The Shocking Truth: Why Obama Won

..

As always, post election analysis has swamped the media and blogosphere since Tuesday night’s election shocker. Every pundit has a theory why her candidate won or lost. Obama won because of the Hispanic vote; Romney lost because so many white voters sat on their hands. The women’s vote was crucial. No, it was the professional class. You’re both wrong, it was Asians under twenty-eight. Romney was too passive. He was too aggressive. He lied too much. He told too much truth. Karl Rove blew it. He saved it from being much worse. Obama’s awesome ground game tipped the election. He should have lost. He should have won bigger. He was too liberal. He was too moderate.  The American people were too smart to go for Romney. They were too stupid to go for Romeny. Too greedy to go for Romeny. God will smile on America. He’ll smite America. No, He could care less. I’m right and you’re wrong. No, I’M right and YOU’RE wrong!

And on and on and on and on and on and on…

But perhaps the most penetrating pundits hang out at the Christian Men’s Defense Network.  Bskillet81, head of  the group, has uncovered the real reason Obama won and Romney lost. Only he has discovered the crucial demographic that swung the election toward America’s first Kenyan born, Muslim, Fascist, Socialist, illegitimate, nappy headed and uppity President.

The Slut Vote!

…. (T)his election cycle shows that the Slut Vote is real, and Republicans lose because they discount the existence of original sin in women.  Abortion is often called the “third rail of American politics,” but in truth, the third rail is a woman’s right to slut (with cash and prizes).

One thing one has to remember about women, especially slutty ones:  They usually don’t make decisions based on reason.  So all the Obama administration had to do was scare them that Mitt Romney was going to take away their birth control and their access to abortion.  The fear for them is that, without birth control and abortion, they might actually get pregnant and have to give birth.  That is scary not simply because of the economic burden of having a child (since, hey, they can get all kinds of cash and prizes if that happens), but because if that happened then everyone would know they’re sluts, and their image as daddy’s pure little snowflake princess goes out the window.

How on God’s green earth can anyone possibly dispute this kind of savvy political brilliance?  Bskillet8 should lobby for his own show on Fox – maybe replacing the finally discredited Dick Morris. I see a book in his future and a lucrative lecture tour. Then he should consider a run for congress (maybe even the Senate).

Not only did Skilly figure out why single white women vote for the Democrats, but he unravelled the riddle of why Blacks are in Obama’s pocket. You probably thought it had something to do with the Democrat’s allegiance to civil rights – you’re an idiot! BSkill has the lowdown:

Contrary to common belief, the primary reason the Democrats own the black vote has nothing to do with civil rights…Rather, Democrats have won the black vote because the black community is dominated by illegitimacy, and the Democrats are willing to subsidize and support that illegitimacy (as well as provide access to cheap abortions) so as to take away from sluts the consequences of their actions.

Think this great Christian seer is wrong? Think he’s just some no nothin’ religious mysogynist? You must be a political tyro, my Fabianista friend. Just check out this web site, Virginia…

Oddly, The CMDN’s site has vanished. Guess, like a lot of geniuses, BKillet8 is more than a little shy. Such a shame; we need his kind of amazing insight… But maybe if we beg he’ll answer our call and save God’s Great City on the Hill…

On Wisconsin!

The results from Wisconsin were not good. Swamped by an avalanche of Republican money and an electorate that vaguely disapproved of the recall effort, progressives took it on the chin. Unions took another body blow and in one of the most liberal states in the nation an unpopular right wing Republican won by seven points.

A chilly prediction for this Fall? Combined with the gathering economic storms over Europe and China, the obstructionist havoc wrought by the Republicans in congress, and the tsunami of cash pouring into conservative coffers, it is beginning to look ominous for Obasma and Democrats.

Andrew Sullivan (one of Vision’s favorite bloggers), and other pundits, decry what they see as a suicidal dash to the far right by the GOP.  They predict the GOP will wither into a rump party of aging southern whites. So far these predictions have proved laughably false. Not only is the GOP not dying, it now controls a majority of the states and the House. If the economy continues to worsen, and given the Citizens United flood of Republican campaign money, Republicans could well capture both the White House and the Senate.

If the above prospect comes to pass, do you think the Democratic minority in the Senate will use the filibuster in the same effective way as the current Republicans? Don’t count on it. First, the Democrats are far less cohesive; it will be easier for the Republican majority to pick up defectors. Second, I have no doubt if the minority does attempt the same sort of tactics now used by the Republicans, the GOP will quickly curtail the minority’s right to stonewall legislation.

With the GOP in control of every branch of the federal government, Congress will mirror the right wing controlled state legislatures. If that happens, Obamacare and the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell are doomed. Social Security and Medicare will be gutted. More funds will be thrown into the Military maw. Taxes will be slashed on the well to d (and raised on the middle class). We’ll see an avalanche of legislation aimed at devastating abortion rights, and unions, and the Democratic party itself.  Legislation to prevent voter fraud will place high hurdles minority voters will need to jump over to register or vote (for a preview check out the efforts of Florida Republicans to reform voting).

Then, if the GOP gets lucky, the next few years will see the economy rebound (despite Republican mismanagement) and the Grand Old Party, rather than withering away, will remain in control for the foreseeable future.

Oh, well, we progressives (the politically correct term for us unabashed liberals these days) will be able to console ourselves by drinking our over-priced  lattes, devouring our chilled arugula, reading the News York Times, and watching Rachel and Ed (and Olbermann reruns), at least until the Republicans reform cable television…

It’s (maybe) the LAW!!

Legal odds  and ends:

The ongoing war between cops and photographers continues. What amazes me is that the  police continuing their assault even though the law is just about always on the side of photographers.

The city fathers of Ft. Lauderdale think they can ban photography in public ares of the city by fiat. A judged disagreed. The Port Authority in New York has banned photos of its trains. A lawsuit is coming.

In the world of copyright, a court  has ruled a graffiti artist’s stencil of a photograph is a violation of the photographer’s  copyright. Duh.

In a closer case, a federal court ruled  against a well known painter for his use of several of the plaintiff’s photographer’s shots in his paintings.

It’s not a good idea to  use – without permission – an iconic photo in your Tony winning Broadway musical.

There is no more difficult job in photography than shooting weddings. A photographer has little or no control of the shoot, is on a tight schedule and is under pressure to preserve her clients’ special day in appealing photographs. Here’s what can happen to a hapless shooter who isn’t up to the job. It probably isn’t the best idea to post a photo of the bride in her underwear on your website.

Unless agreed otherwise, a photographer normally retains the copyright in photographs he takes for someone else. This is elementary. But its also elementary that companies try to shaft photographers.

Sometimes it is a very bad idea to try to cash in on your copyright, even if the law’s on your side.

Nobody likes the paparazzi, but you can’t just beat them up for taking your photo; but the poor guys get assaulted all the time.

While you may photograph what you see that’s public, that doesn’t mean you can publish your photo or use it commercially if your subject is a copyrighted public sculpture.

A right wing blogger expresses contempt for a Flickr photographer’s  take down notice.

A museum prohibits photography of its works of art. Can you photograph – and  post to Flickr -your photo of that adorable Renoir? Better not!

It’s Lonely Out Here…

Posted in erotic, fetish, FLICKR, PHOTOGRAPHY, sexual, Sexy, women with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on December 19, 2010 by cliffmichaels

Writing and tending a smutty Flickr blog is lonely work.  It’s almost like being a lighthouse keeper (but without the fog horn). I keep waiting for my formal invitation to the National Smutty Blog Writer’s Association (NSBWA) convention. It never comes; I can’t even begin to tell you what I’ve wasted on tuxedo rentals these past three years…  I have dreams of my lowly blog being praised by my fellow Smutty Blog Writers and winning a Smutty Award, but those dreams have never come true and my mantle remains empty. Sigh…

But there are little bits of light in the grim darkness of smuttiness. I receive anywhere from two or three to half a dozen referrals from other web sites each day. Sometimes I can find no clue why a site is listed as a referrer. Other times my blog has appeared as a purely random listing on the referrer (here at 9:43 AM, gone by 10:16 ..).  Sometimes, however, the link to Visions is intentional and permanent.

ZymurgyMike describes itself as, “ramblings of a Alaskan about sex, marriage, beer, politics and anything else.” The blog postings are by Mike (duh) and his lovely wife Cara. To tell the truth, there didn’t appear to be all that many posts about bear, marriage or politics; but there are lots and lots of delightfully erotic posts about sex. I’m proud that these two horny Alaskans have thought well enough of Visions to put a link to it on their front page.

The comely young woman in this fine black and white photo by Luca Rubbi could be from Alaska, or maybe she’s been there, or thought about going, or had a friend who has…

Desire has her own blog,  Singing Visions. She was kind enough to comment on this post I wrote earlier today.

Erotic Blog of the (fill in the blank)

One of the nicer things about running this blog is the occasional note from someone else running a blog. The most recent note came from Fantasia Lillith, the creator of Pillow Talk, a blog of erotic tales. Here’s how she describes herself –

Perhaps my own need to find erotica that would please my feminine senses pushed me to do this, or perhaps I am just finally embracing my own femme fatal, my inner vixen. One could even say that this was a blog started out of frustration. I wanted classy, alive and elegant writing and there is precious little out there. Go ahead and look. The vulgar dominates the genre. Whatever the reason, this is what I enjoy doing.

She is certainly right about her writng. It’s first rate and so are her stories!

And  also see Sexmemore’s Blog, our last erotic reading recommendation. Oddly, both these blogs have front page stories about urination…!!!

And Another Thing…

Posted in FLICKR with tags , on February 2, 2010 by cliffmichaels

According to my blog stats, only a small percentage of visitors to a particular blog post click on the links on the page. Sometimes, I’m sure, the visitor is not a Flickr member, reads he won’t be able to see the images and leaves. The lack of  clicks, however, remains high even on my posts linking to one of my Flickr galleries (which anyone may view).

My first though was people just didn’t care for Visions when they reached it from a referral site. If that were true, I would expect my hit count to eventually go down (“that Visions site is a ripoff, I won’t go there again…”) The reverse is true, my count has increased six fold over the past three months. I haven’t had a single person complain about Visions’  format. So I really have no idea what’s going on…

This Won’t Mean Much…

Posted in FLICKR, PHOTOGRAPHY, Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , on January 26, 2010 by cliffmichaels

I wrote back in November about my iphone with its cracker jack prize of a camera. I very rarely use the camera on my iPhone 3G. There’s all of one photo on Visions I took with the phone, a shot of my Dear Secretary Jayne.

Sunday afternoon my wife and I travelled to north Knoxville to welcome back my father to his home after his almost  month long stay in a hospital in Atlanta and a Knoxville transitional care unit. We also went to celebrate, two days early,  his ninetieth birthday. We (which of course means my wife) made him a birthday cake and brought a token present: a pair of lounging pajamas.

When we got there my wife said, “oh, no! You forgot your camera!” I started to apologize then had a brain storm. “No I didn’t,” I crowed, “we have our iPhones!”

My wife caused me considerable heartburn when, through her office, she got a iPhone 3GS. The worst part is she only uses it as a phone and could care less about all those neat features that, sob, are not on my antique 3G.

Sunday her phone came in handy. With its 3.2 megapixel sensor and automatic exposure I managed to get some almost passable photos of dad and his cake and his present…

Here is a Flickr group of over seven thousand photos taken with the iPhone 3Gs.

And here are two from Sunday.. (click on either image to enlarge)

On the Wheel

Posted in FLICKR, Uncategorized with tags , , on January 24, 2010 by cliffmichaels

This is the 308th post on this blog. It took ten months to manage the first hundred. The next two hundred took just four months (averaging about two posts a day).  Over the last thirty days I’ve posted ninety-two times (averaging just over three posts a day!) The trend is clear. At this accelerating rate soon I’ll be posting ten times each day, then twenty, then fifty, then ever more until I spending all of my time on Visions (going broke in the process) until all three billion Flickr photos have been the subject of a post or part of a gallery.

I don’t keep track of the amount of time I spend on Visions. I’d be appalled at the result. But guessing I spend a mere half hour on each post, I’ve spent over forty six hours during the past month. That figure is far too low. Gallery posts take an hour or more to construct. I rewrite posts over and over again until I feel there are perfect (I’m a lousy pruf reader). A more reasonable, and uncomfortable,  guess  of the total amount of time I spend here each week is well north of twelve hours.

What? Who makes me do it!? What deranged villain forces me to add post after post after post to Visions…? Why, we both know the answer: me.

All you the readers (voyeurs?) do is provide me with the excuse.
